Hours Categories
Earnings Maintenance > Hours Categories
Use this page to set up the hours categories that contain the hours codes. Create a category for each accrual and one category for regular time, one for overtime and one for "other."
Hours categories that already have been set up are displayed in a grid.
To edit an hours category, double-click the corresponding row. The Code, Description and Roll Date columns and all check boxes are enabled for editing. To set up a new hours category, click the New button located below the grid. A blank row is added to the top of the grid.
If an hours category is an accrual, such as vacation or personal time, select the Accrual Category check box. If you are setting up a new hours category, selecting Accrual Category enables the System Calculated check box and the Roll Date field.
If you want the system to calculate the hours earned for an accrual category, select System Calculated. If the accrual hours for this category have to be used by a particular date before restrictions are applied, click in the Roll Date field to select the date from a drop-down list.
The Roll Date selected on an accrual hours category also determines the start of the year if you have a YTD Hours Earned Maximum set up on the
Excess Hours Distribution tab of the corresponding accrual plan rule set (Maintenance > Human Resources > Employee Attributes > Accrual Plans > Edit Plan > Profiles > Edit Profile Code > Rule Sets > Edit Rule Set Code > Excess Hours Distribution).
For example, if the YTD Hours Earned Maximum is set at 80 hours, select the start of the year for those hours in the Roll Date field.
Leaving the Roll Date blank assumes the accrual hours category is life-to-date, and there is not a YTD Hours Earned Maximum.
After making your entries, click Save/New to save the hours category. Repeat the same steps until you have set up all hours categories.
After you have set up all hours categories, you may set up the hours codes that fit into each category.
